A brief Of Computer networking Cables
67
Computer networking is interconnection of several hardware and application to share resources on the network. Computer networking can be done through cables or it can be wireless network.
There are three types of cables used in computer networking they are:-
Co-axial cables: - These are not used widely now days. These are low at cost. It has copper conductive wire on which data is transmitted. The main cable is covered with a outer jacket, braid conductor, and a plastic cover. The technology used by these cables is CDDI (Copper Distributed Data Interface).
Twisted pair cables: - Mostly used in LAN and they are also low at cost. They are of two types UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) and STP (Shielded Twisted Pair). These cables reduce crosstalk because of there twist made in the cable. The technology used by these cables is CDDI (Copper Distributed Data Interface).
Fiber optic cables: - Fiber optical cables use optical fiber to transmit data. Used for high speed connectivity. They are high at cost. The technology used by these cables is FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface). Data inside the fiber optic cable travels in the form of light that is why data inside fiber optic cable travels very fast.
