What is Remote Installation Service Server and its System Requirements (Installing Windows Remotely)

It’s always been headache for a person who wants to install windows to multiple computers. He would require to go to every single pc and then to the configurations and install the windows. This process will probably take very much time.

 

The solution to this problem is installing windows through a remote server or Remote Installation Server. Remote Installation Service Server is a server which is used to install operating system remotely to various numbers of PCs. A RIS sever makes installation easy and fast. We can install the operating system through RIS sever simultaneously to several number of computer systems. This improve the time required to install operating system when its matter of many number of systems.

 

System Requirements for RIS Server

à DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server must be configured in the network

à System must be parent Domain Controller.

à Minimum two partition must is in NTFS volume.

à Integrated DHCP and DNS must be configured.

à RIS service must be installed and configured.

 

System Requirements for RIS client

à Client computer system must have PXE boot ROM.

à Client computer system must have PXE boot LAN card.

à First booting device in BIOS configuration must be configured as LAN
